Do you have any connection to Kurrara's history? Please contact us, we would love to hear from you
Kurrara is part of the Greater Blue Mountains Heritage Trail
Kurrara opened as a guest house in Katoomba in 1902, making it among the first accommodation venues in the Blue Mountains! It was originally part of the Coomonderry Estate, with tennis courts and croquet lawn. The estate was subsequently subdivided in the first half of the century to make way for 'progress'
It sported 'modern conveniences' and boasted both hot and cold baths, and fine cuisine! At six shillings a night, Kurrara was very much a high class establishment, run by Mrs. Wilkins, Proprietress, and then Miss Bridges in the years that followed.
Bookings were made by calling ' Kat 12' - if you had a telephone of course!
Current owners, Iain & Evelyn purchased Kurrara in May 2012, and are well on their way with an ambitious plan of refurbishment, to restore this beautiful heritage guesthouse to preserve a small part of Katoomba's history and for the benefit of our guests!
